Laura Watkinson studied medieval and modern languages at St. Anne's College, Oxford University, and followed with a Master's in European Literature. In 2003, she moved to the Netherlands, where she lives in a tall, thin house on a canal and works as a literary translator of Dutch, German, and Italian.
Her translation of Bibi Dumon Tak's Soldier Bear received the American Library Association's 2012 Batchelder Award.
